marbury vs. Madison
This Supreme Court Case established the line of Judicial Review from the outcome.
A brief synopsis of the Marbury vs. Madison case was that President James Madison, broke his own laws.
Marbury was to be appointed as the Justice of the Peace but his appointment was incomplete due to John Adams failing to finish it in time. Due to this, he demanded newly appointed President James Madison to appoint him but was denied. The outcome of this case decided that Marbury in fact has a right to stay in his position of appointment and that him being denied was violating the Constitution. This established Judicial Review, which has been the basis for the Supreme Court cases ever since.
